Just saw in reply to this post - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96075 - there is a cheaper deal available with goget if you are a student.

There are no monthly fees and no sign up fees. This is only a student offer, beneficial for me, hopefully for others too.

You can book a car for $5.65 an hour (plus $0.40/km) or $68 a day, with 150kms free. Basically equates to the "go frequent" plan but without any of the signup fees or monthly costs. Note there is a $500 preauthorisation.

You can get around the goget sign on fee a number of ways but the $75 credit is a nice sweetner. Note you need to put deposit of $500 down as a member and it is only the initial membership fee that is waved. Cancel before 12 months to avoid annual fee. Code expires at the end of August.

The Sydney Half Marathon is back and we need to move some cars out of their pods for the day. So, we're offering members a weekend special to have them out and about for the weekend of the 21st of May.

All cars in the below link are 50% off for 2 or more days between the 19th and 23rd of May.

What's the catch?
• Cars need to be in out of the pod by 6pm Saturday and can't be returned until 2pm Sunday 21st May
• All bookings need to be finalised by the 18th of May
